The ZRA delegation with the session instructor at CUPIA HQ
A delegation from the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) visited South Korea from November 25 to 29, experiencing CUPIA and the country’s advanced customs administration practices. The visit reflected ZRA’s strong commitment to benchmarking Korea’s renowned customs administration systems and technologies.
The delegation, comprising six ZRA officials led by Harrison Sonford Chapu, Director of Innovation & Project Management, began their visit with a comprehensive lecture on Korea Customs Service’s core systems and policies at CUPIA HQ office. Among the highlights, the risk management technology based on the Customs Data Warehouse (CDW) developed by CUPIA garnered significant interest and praise from the participants.
The ZRA delegation remarked, “Korea’s customs systems and technology are truly world-class. This visit has provided us with great inspiration to enhance our own customs administration systems,” emphasizing the meaningful nature of the discussions during their visit.
In addition to their time at CUPIA, the delegation toured the maritime express cargo clearance center at Incheon Port Customs. This allowed them to directly observe on-site customs clearance procedures and express cargo handling technologies, providing a well-rounded learning experience that combined theory and practice.
This visit is expected to serve as a cornerstone for strengthening customs administration cooperation between the two countries and modernizing Zambia’s customs systems. CUPIA reaffirmed its commitment to advancing global customs administration and fostering international collaboration in the future.
