Chairman Yoon-shik KIM of CUPIA (Customs UNI-PASS International Agency) visited Guayaquil, Ecuador, on November 6 to discuss the specific implementation strategies for the next-generation ECUAPASS, Ecuador’s Customs Management System. This visit aimed to facilitate practical consultations and coordination regarding the scope of the next-generation project.
CUPIA’s ECUAPASS Implementation Project
Client: Government of Ecuador (SENAE & MCPEC)
Main Contractor: CUPIA
Project Duration: Approximately 3 years, starting from 2010
Scope: Development of a Customs Management System covering all aspects of customs administration and an Electronic Single Window connecting 29 institutions
During the visit, Yoon-shik KIM held working-level meetings with key high-ranking officials from Ecuador, including Honorable Minister of Production Luis Jaramillo and Director General of SENAE Iván Rosero. In these meetings, the Ecuadorian side highlighted the urgent need for a next-generation Customs Management System, pointing out administrative inefficiencies caused by the limitations of the existing system. In response, CUPIA proposed the swift installation and stable operation of their e-PASS Customs Management System solution.
Both sides discussed the project’s objectives and implementation methods, drafting and signing the minutes to formalize their mutual commitment to cooperation.
Chairman Kim stated, “I deeply resonate with SENAE’s emphasis on the need for system modernization,” and added, “We will support Ecuador in achieving more efficient and transparent customs administration through the implementation of e-PASS.”
The collaboration between CUPIA and Ecuador is expected to accelerate the digital transformation of Ecuador’s customs administration, contributing to enhanced trade activity and economic development in the future.
